(Written by Shabs Ash – 28 July 2016) – The courage to be you.
Do you have the courage to be you? I look around and wherever I go, everyone looks different! Isn’t that amazing?!
That’s just how we look on the outside, we are just as multidimensional if not more so when it comes to who we are internally, i.e. mind, feelings/emotions, needs, wants, desires and our various personalities.
It is both beautiful and fascinating how the universe constantly creates and manifests in all its many ways! This leads me to believe that it is inherently our birth right to be different and yea you heard me – to own it! Darn it!
Be Proud, for being YOU!
Celebrate YOU, aint no one else like you; nor will there ever be, you’re walking this path called life, so grab it with both hands and LOVE it!
It’s not our job to please others, or to tip toe around them, so that they feel safe and comfortable. Many of us can fall into this way of being in our everyday lives consciously or unconsciously; whether it’s with our family or a loved one, or a boss at work!
Should you honour your own truth or someone else’s?
What will truly matter and what will it all boil down to when we look back on our lives?
When we are being ourselves, the right people and the right opportunities come to us, instead of chasing what we think is right for us which often leads to turmoil.
So listen to that inner voice and surrender to it.
As Steve Job said:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
So does it take Courage to be yourself?
I started this blog with Emerson’s thoughts on ‘being ourselves’, which suggested to me that perhaps it’s not always easy to be ourselves.
It may take a certain amount of courage, but it will always be worth it in the end.
If we are being ourselves and love who we are, we give other people permission to do the same.
We can then celebrate each other with all our differences and WITHOUT judgement.
Perhaps then, the world would be a happier and more harmonious place?
Differences are a natural human phenomena, (as I said, just look around you and you will see no one is the same). Even twins have differences with their sibling/s.
This then leads me to conclude; that differences are to be EXPECTED and ACCEPTED with love and CELEBRATION!!!
